Basic Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water adjust as needed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil optional, for softer bread

Instructions
 

  • Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast. Gradually add warm water and mix until a sticky dough forms. Add olive oil if desired.
  • Knead: Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  • Shape: Punch down the dough, shape it into a ball or your desired shape, and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Cook on Stovetop: Heat a non-stick pan with a lid over medium heat. Place the dough in the pan and cover. Cook for 10-12 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 8-10 minutes until both sides are golden brown.
  • Cool: Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
