Ingredients
For the Base:
4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
For the Caramel Layer:
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons golden syrup (or light corn syrup)
For the Chocolate Topping:
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
Prepare the Base:
Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, sugar, and corn syrup. Stir until the mixture begins to bubble.
Remove from heat and mix in the Rice Krispies until fully coated.
Press the mixture into the prepared pan, smoothing the surface.
Make the Caramel Layer:
In a medium saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, butter, brown sugar, and golden syrup.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and turns golden brown (about 8–10 minutes).
Pour the caramel over the Rice Krispies base, spreading evenly.
Add the Chocolate Topping:
Melt chocolate chips and heavy cream together in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer and smooth it out with a spatula.
Set and Serve:
Refrigerate the bars for at least 2 hours or until fully set.
Slice into squares or rectangles and serve chilled or at room temperature.
