Ingredients

  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 slices (3 mm thick) of fresh ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ tablespoon ground turmeric or 1 inch fresh turmeric root (sliced)
  • Juice of ½ a lemon
  • 1 ½ tablespoons raw Manuka honey (or any raw honey)
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for extra warmth)

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
  • Add the cinnamon stick, ginger slices, cloves, and turmeric to the water. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the tea to steep for another 5 minutes.
  • Strain the tea into a mug using a fine mesh strainer.
  • Stir in the lemon juice and honey until well mixed.
  • If desired, sprinkle a small pinch of cayenne pepper for added kick.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!
